Welcome to The Abbey.
From an Oxford United fan:
"If he regains pre-Covid form then you'd have a very good keeper should you sign him but it is an if."

Welcome to The Abbey. From an Oxford United fan: "If he regains pre-Covid form then you'd have a very good keeper should you sign him but it is an if." He played 2 league games before lockdown. Anyway, welcome to United, Jack.

Was first choice at Oxford when they finished 6th and 8th. Not gonna overly focus on his time at Port Vale last season as nobody had a good year for them really. On paper, a good signing and an upgrade on keeper in general.

What does the signs on a free transfer but Oxford retaining future interest piece about?
Welcome Jack

It's another way of saying a "sell on" isn't it?

Oxford supporting friend:
"I feel we had a good young player at the club and we’ve made a monumental mistake letting him go"
"He was very, very ill and Robinson decided he could make do with Eastwood….that didn’t exactly go to plan.
He’s too good a talent, especially for what we have on the books atm, to just allow to leave for a competing club. Silly move by us."
Positive sounds

What does the signs on a free transfer but Oxford retaining future interest piece about? Welcome Jack Some sort of 'buy-back' clause so we could sign him on a free transfer as opposed to paying a fee?

It's another way of saying a "sell on" isn't it? I'd go with Vessey's!

Or a hefty sell on in the unlikely scenario that we'd get a fee for him? Or payments to Oxford based on appearances, clean sheets, league position etc?

I will obviously wait to see him play for us before I judge him. I'm not overly delighted looking at the comments from fans of past clubs but doesn't necessarily mean anything.
2 year deal as well, time will tell if that was a good decision.
Also what does this mean for Holden? He's been here a year and I don't think he's even played for us? Has only ever played non league and he's 21. It's a fairly common thing now to have 3 senior keepers but can't help think it's a waste of resources at times.

Happy enough with that. As above he was part of a very good Oxford side for two years and attracted the attention of Aston Villa.
Hasn't gone well for him since by the looks of it but that's the profile of players we tend to sign - players with something to prove, or needing a fresh start. It doesn't need saying but you'd pick apart the playing history of most of our signings, he'll either be good or he won't. Time will tell.
Welcome Jack.

It’s an interesting one as he was Oxford’s first choice for 2 years in a team that got to the play offs. Played against us both times the season before last. Shipped off to vale whose fans are not to complimentary about him though. As mentioned above will wait to see how he does for us though as that’s what counts. Iredale for example was said to be crap by Carlisle fans but was amazing for us.
