Interesting bit of business especially with the sell on part of the deal. Mitov was a big character both on the pitch and in the dressing room so big gloves to fill.
Hope there’s no headlines along the lines of Stevens gets off to a Shaky start etc.
Welcome aboard Jack.

The answer here is obvious: send Mannion to Walsall for six months.

Agree, Mannion was very unlucky last season. He needs to learn to shithouse more but other than that I thought he was better than Mitov. That save away at Port Vale he made look simple but it was a great save. The best part of it was to keep hold of it instead of parrying it back into the strikers path for a tap in. Then of course straight up the other end and goal. Major turning point in the season.

There must be a reason Oxford have a clause in the sale - they must see his potential and hope to benefit from it in the future.

I'm not convinced it's just a sell on. Sell ons are fairly standard but the 'initial free transfer' suggests to me maybe we end up paying a few quid after a x number of appearances.

The answer here is obvious: send Mannion to Walsall for six months. Walsall had a different Manager when Lennett was there. Might not work out as well now that he has gone.

There must be a reason Oxford have a clause in the sale - they must see his potential and hope to benefit from it in the future. He signed a three-year deal not so long ago, before Robinson was sacked. There was probably a bit of toing and froing over a fee so an agreement was made that any sale then Oxford get a wedge OR they get first dibs on re-signing him if he does well. More than likely the former. Saves us a bit on our budget on the off chance he has a blinder of a season and some Championship team want to pay £60/70k for him.

You have to have self confidence to be a good keeper, Mitov had it in buckets, if this chap has lost his, it's hard to see how he will get it back.
It's the one position you don't want to take chances with. Mannion could improve to be good enough so is perhaps a safety valve, but he would need to improve.
Can't remember if we offered Mitov new terms or not? Hard to see this as a definite upgrade, rather an unnecessary gamble if Mitov was prepared to stay.
Hopefully we don't regret this one.

To give some balance to the clip of him dropping a clanger, here's a video of him looking a decent keeper:
I don't think Mitov would look at all impressive if the first thing seen of him playing was that blocked clearance that led to a Burton goal but I will remember Mitov very fondly.
Several mentions of Stevens losing confidence after a couple of mistakes and a crippling illness but our management team and general ethos is ideal for repairing that kind of thing. It's clear the bloke has talent.
Welcome to the club Jack.

Lots of posters channeling Little Britain tonight.
“You like new signings don’t you?”
“Yea I do”
“We’ve signed a new kepper”
“I don’t like it”

'Slightly' more amusing than Little Britain is like saying Ling is slightly better than Derry.
