"We're not a play off team or squad... so we're not going to be there" Wish he'd told us that in August and early Sept when we were towards the top of the league. I wouldn't have bothered getting my hopes up. I mean, he definitely didn't say we were a playoff team at the time. The table at the end of the season will tell us where we are; can't get too invested in the permutations etc. His message hasn't really changed on that front. I can also pretty much guarantee Evans is talking up the opposition. He talked _us_ up earlier in the season.

The more I think about that... the more it annoys me (unsurprisingly, sure). I mean - did anyone expect us to get to the play-offs before the season started? No. But we started so well and were in or around the play-offs for the first 5 or 6 weeks of the season. And unlike the start of last season, we were playing really well and thoroughly deserved it. So was that the blip?! Was that the anomaly? And what about Stevenage - does Steve Evans say to his players that realistically they're a lower bottom half team? I bet he doesn't. I bet he's pushing them every game to give it everything and not give two hoots about the size of the opposition club. Didn’t someone find examples of Evans playing the ‘little old Stevenage’ card earlier in this thread? And… without wishing to go round in circles, Bonner isn’t talking to his players in that clip… Seriously, you can be comfortably Bonner out without taking issue with everything he says in the media before and after games. There’s plenty of ammo in the games themselves at the moment!

Bonner said we have a good team, I assume all the players would have been listening in closely so a guaranteed 3 points tomorrow from a happy team.

Very well said, we have an acceptance at the moment that we are lucky to be in league one, rather than backing ourselves all the time in some way against anyone we play. It’s like we expect a pasting and feel lucky if we win. I just wish we would free up, there is a lot of very poor teams in the league this season and many of our squad would see themselves and their futures in the top of league one or in the championship. I want to see more of that mentality that we can get something wherever we go, that we can cause teams problems not just nullify their threats. I do think we will win tomorrow against another side we should be very confident of beating at home.

For balance, it is actually very good interview. Bonner comes across really well - as he usually does and does big up our own players a lot.
I really hope it translates into a win tomorrow.

Nothing good on the internet... must be reading this board Oh 100%. Although I suspect more likely when times are good than not. There's been too many nods to things

I reckon he reads the forum but doesn't post...well not that much anyway. Perhaps he likes to throw in the odd hand grenade now and then so I reckon his posts would be less than 100. We just need to work out whenabouts he'd have joined. Oh, and also I bet his username contains some kind of joke as he's a clever guy with a sense of humour. Someone needs to go through the list of all the members looking at names, date joined and posts.
Then we'll know...

Nah, I'm sticking to match threads. Know your limitations is my mantra for this season.

It's another interesting interview for me. Say what you will about how we're performing but he's engaging, pragmatic, measured and honest. As above he either reads this board or he just knows what fans are talking about and addresses those issues, it's refreshing.
'Any other manager would be sacked', yes probably, but also any other manager would be defensive, gaslighting, making excuses, and probably shifting blame onto his players much more obviously than "we haven't got goals like that in us at the moment". It's a mild truth rather than a harsh one from someone who many criticise for being 'too nice'. I liked that he didn't want to blame confidence too much either.
Anyway, he obviously cares an awful lot. It's another odd criticism I've seen among the more valid points. Either that or the double handed "if he cared he would walk". There have been some stupid, personnel and outright bullshit said about him outside of this forum. Says more about the gutless entitlement of those fans than it does him. Control your emotions.
So, I feel inspired. I like Bonner. I'd want to perform for him. I'd want to roll up my trousers and get amongst the muck and bullets for him. I'd be sh*t though, obviously, so if you're reading this, Mark, no need to register me just yet. I'm no...um, Wes Hoolalang.
So that's me, we'll see how the players respond. Thing is, I know there comes a point (which I'm not at) where in an underperforming team the manager has to go because you can't bomb out 14 players, but in an ideal world I'd be much closer to bombing out 14 players than the manager.
I'm feeling energised and optimistic.
Roll on Lincoln(?)

Interesting comments re our disciplinary record and not enough yellows as a team. Adam May please take note that means not bottling tackles in the Derby and taking one for the team. Maybe again that's a pointer to them. All successful teams nead a bit of sh-housery in them. Hannant & Mullin one a fair few pens and free kicks in the lockdown season. Smith & Williams were good WUP merchants. Yes he mentioned Lankester & Digby for their dissent cautions as being poor but maybe we do need to be bit more streetwise in games - we are experienced enough.

Interested in the comments on here and Facebook pages about how we might actually benefit from digby's suspension...maybe so. But on a side note, while looking for something else, I came upon the programme from the Stevenage match and 2 things were very interesting to me. 1, a recap of Steve Evans career... Could have done a job for us? 2, Featured player; Paul digby. The match he was most looking forward to this season: Peterborough away. Ouch!
