Probably need to post this on a few more threads to make sure people read it because of course you are right, and thankfully we all have a couple of weeks to refocus our efforts, players and fans alike. I actually feel sorry for Cousins, who is taking an awful lot of flak on here. There was no doubting his effort yesterday, and it was starting to pay off in the second half, before Monk took him off. He's been out injured quite a lot so it's hardly surprising that he hasn't set the world on fire on his return. Kentish The pressure of keeping Cambridge in Div 1 should be a privilege. He strolls around like he doesn't really care one way or the other. I completely get it that Cambridge means more to me but I can't do anything about the performances on the pitch. He's in central midfield and could do a huge amount to help us stay up. For me, the frustration is that he is a better player than what he is showing. We have definitely seen glimpses of that, for example, in the Pompey game at home he was majestic; he managed the midfield splendidly, kept it simple and didn't waste a pass. There have been too many games though when he has made unforced errors that have led to goals, those are what he will be most remembered for.

He's definitely put in more effort since Monk's come in imo, at least comparable with how much everyone else is putting in the effort bar a few. But for me he needed dropping not because he's not good enough but because having a bad game will affect players, especially if you follow it up with another one. I think that the fact most of our players seem to have pretty secure starting places has allowed their performances to drop, some its been a gradual decline whereas others have had one or two poor performances back to back and stayed at a lower level than their best. I also think for many of them even if they're not here next season, they won't be playing League One football if we go down, whereas keep us up and theres more potential there for a contract at this level here or elsewhere, most of our squad have shown at points this season they're good enough to play in L1. Hopefully this extended spell between games can allow them to fully focus on the task ahead, got to keep the faith, only one more game until the clocks go forward

Optimistic yes, certainly after yesterday! Want unquestionably to avoid a ‘needing a result at Port Vale’ scenario. Anything from Blackpool and Derby would be a massive return. Key games have to be Wigan, Charlton, Wycombe & Bristol Rovers! I think if we can overcome this ‘Tuesday’ phobia we could do well at Rovers. My Gas supporting mate was there yesterday and said they were the worst he’d ever experienced!

What looked like being a hard run in may end up with quite a few games vs teams with “nothing to play for” - Derby and Port Vale may be the only 2. Blackpool mess up tomorrow and the playoffs are a long way off..
