Fair enough.
I think it's something you're always going to get if you aren't successful (and even if you are successful) playing a style that is so clearly defined and also quite different and decidedly modern.
Ultimately any style that's not successful gets criticised. Plenty of our fans have voiced the sentiment over the past couple of years that they'd rather lose games or get relegated giving it a go than playing "boring, defensive" football – what we're trying now can look boring but we've had a glimpse of how exciting it can be in the QPR game – and I think, despite the faults in it (and results) our games have generally, from a small sample obviously, been a bit more exciting from our standpoint than we've been used to over recent years. In even the crudest terms, we're making more goalscoring opportunities & taking more shots than we've been used to.
I've no beef with playing pragmatic football if we need to. I don't mind us trying this either but if we are going to try it, we need to have the courage of our convictions to at least give it proper time to prove its worth.

To dig up my comment about Southampton parallels, I'm sat here watching MOTD on catch-up and they've just been on. Change the names & division, and it really is us! I wonder if Monk watched it too? Yes, I had the same thought. As other have pointed out however, our situation is a bit different. Our failings so far have not been about the system, they have been individuals making stupid choices. Like Brophy... and I love the guy... not tracking Husband TWICE in just over half an hour against Blackpool. Two corners, two headers, two carbon copy goals and Brophs was hooked at half time. Two points dropped. They are... or at least should be... easy fixes. I think Southampton's situation is a little different, as I'm not sure they have the quality they need to survive. We absolutely do. Smith has given away two goals in two games, but no one is convincing me that he isn't good enough for League One. He just needs to sort himself out and we collectively need to stop having individual howlers.

I think that the team is still just understanding each other. It’s a very new squad from last season with a different approach. This is going to take time but we’ll soon pick up form I’m sure of it. Not to mention that we have a fair few injuries such as Gardner, loft, Thomas, jobe and cousins. I think we’ll be comfortable this season.

This pass pass pass playing style can be pretty exciting if done the right way like, for ex, the time I had nowt better to do so I sat down on the sofa and put on some Spanish Liga action. I was already in dreamland by the time the home team won their first throw in of the match which was around the 9th min mark iirc. And if that's not entertainment then I don't know what is.
Re Mr Monk, I reckon he's doing a grand job. Not at actually winning football games but at putting himself in the shop window. This futile attempt to play football the right way (whatever that actually means) when you don't have the players required to pull it off will no doubt impress some top L1 teams/ Championship sides that like to play this sort of footy.
