Interested to know whether anyone here thinks Stevens should be back in at number one when he's fit? Nope not at all. Mannion’s earned the shirt and should keep it.

Yeh, wouldn't blame him for leaving. I don't think we've backed him enough over the last few years. He's 25 too, not exactly a young player. No but still on the younger end as a keeper. It's these next 5 years where he should be really racking up the experience. Assume it'd depend on the tenor of the conversations we have with him about his place and also probably the length of deal we offer him. A three-year deal at a club he's already been for 3 years with the other keepers on the books being out of contract next summer & a 20-year-old – I'm assuming Holden will be released this summer – might be a lot more tempting than a 1 or 2-year deal somewhere else where he'd have to start afresh, for example. The timing of Stevens' injury has been really good for Mannion; new manager in the club, he has had a great chance to impress and own the No1 tag, which I think he has taken quite well. Perhaps the argument should be where does that leave Stevens for next season?

I think Stevens is another that you can file under “Is in contract but Monk would really rather he wasn’t”
in terms of actually Goalkeeping I don’t think there is much between him and Mannion, but on the mental side of the game Mannion is miles ahead, we’re benefiting from that and his calmness now.

Stevens has another year on his deal, so it looks like we’ll have healthy competition for the shirt. Mannion is no.1 for me, but Stevens when on his game has been decent. Probably a squad position we won’t worry about over the summer.

Love his little looks at the pitch as he moans about it. Guess what boyo, we do actually have water, indeed even sprinklers (at this level). So, guess what? We've absolutely DONE YOU with our choice of surface preparation. Just imagine if there’d been the hiss of the sprinklers starting at about 3.30 into this. I really hope Darler stuck ‘em on before Jones left the stadium. Nathan Jones really is a miserable, whining, uncharitable prick isn't he?

I suppose that (looking out of the window now) the Abbey Stadium pitch has finally ended its 8-10 year drought.
