Even as his body fails him, his will to compete is unrelenting. Remarkable.

Even as his body fails him, his will to compete is unrelenting. Remarkable. Fair play to him, always seen him as a dull & boring Scotsman but his cause for the women's game deserves credit. And to see him battling when clearly not fit to play deserves a lot of respect. He has been unlucky in a way to be playing at a time when 3 other sportsmen are of equal dominance but he will be remembered fondly that's for sure.

I’ve never been that interested in the debate around him as a person, although I’d fall on the side of assuming he’s a decent bloke, by and large, and many people seem to be making that case now.
What I really admire him for is the dedication he had to being the very best tennis player he could be. Working hard is a very simple thing, insofar as anyone could do it, but so many people choose not to. So many people never truly apply themselves or test their limits, in any endeavour.
I think that’s one thing elite sportspeople share in common - that willingness to push themselves and see just how good they can be. Miserable sod or feminist champion (or both), at the very least he embodied that one quality that anyone should be able to appreciate.

What I don't think has been focused on is not what Murray has achieved within (and outside) the game but the Murray Effect. The fact that all of a sudden Tennis is a game that its OK to play after decades of no-hopers he's shown that talent and dedication can take you to the top. Be interesting to see if hes cited as the man who inspired the Wimbledon Mens Single champion 2038.

Time will tell I guess. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/46889072

He's probably right. From what I've seen, the LTA have done very little to improve the quality and range of facilities on offer. There's been the odd short term initiative - my son did a subsidised 6 week course last summer, but these things very rarely continue.
The village I live in has reasonable courts and some coaches, but feedback of the standard of coaching is mixed, whilst the changing rooms are literally a shed. Not very inspiring to use in winter!
