The problem we have selling the existing space on non-matchdays, e.g. for events and corporate meetings, is that they are very long and thin, which makes them inconvenient. Extending the buildings to create 'squarer' spaces will make that space more marketable for a wider range of activities.

Ray,colin probably explains it better, the fans bar 'area' has not been increased as it backs onto the tap room etc. If you are familiar with the dublin suite, you will know it is divided on matchdays, sponsors dining area, fans bar. It matters not, good move to increase revenue.

Yes Tojo, I understand your point. The new enlarged section will be sectioned off on match days with the sliding/folding plastic room divider thingy. I agree a larger "drinking room" bar would be nice but I suspect from a revenue perspective, meal seating areas will generate more match day income for the club. BTW, what happened to the portacabin bar in the main stand car park, it that gone now? what happened to the portacabin bar in the main stand car park, it that gone now? That was still in use last season but is used more for a second food kiosk and closed for games with expected low attendances.

To be fair, there doesn't seem much room to enlarge the fans bar bit of the Dublin Suite. The stairs up to the back of the stand are in the way to enlarge that bit.

Sorry, but it has the Tap room and barrel storage area below the stairs.
We did view that area but it would be money thrown away

Does the council have The Abbey site in its plans for a new secondary school? Can a deal be done? t.co/LcDr7tMZNj

Silly. A Primary school built into a new North Stand would be quite something. Short walk to the Abbey Pool and Coldhams Common for some wonderful sporting facilities too. How cool would it be to say you'd been educated at the Abbey Stadium?
And it isn't a stupid idea either. Wolves have a department of Wolverhampton Poly (sorry, I still cannot think of it as a University) in their main stand. Great income generator and it never goes away.

A very simple solution to the council's shortage of schools in the area problem.
Let Cambridge United build a new stadium and sporting facilities at Trumpington. The Abbey land can then be used for a school and some housing.
We get our new ground, Grovsenor get their housing (on the land at They Abbey and at Trumpington), the council gets their school and South Cambs gets new sporting facilities that are much needed.

Your first sentence is the issue - its a simple solution, so will never happen!
