Got over the line in the end today but as nervy as watching United towards the end of last season!

Got over the line in the end today but as nervy as watching United towards the end of last season! Totally! However, I do think we are starting to 'evolve' Bazball a little, being (a bit!) more selective with shot making. I was surprised the Aussies reverted back to real cricket, rather than the short pitched attack in the last test, which had been so successful.

I agree re Jimmy, but just hope the pitch will suit him - they certainly didn't in the 1st two tests! There's been more movement at the oval this year too, with Worral et al taking plenty of wickets. Guess the exact pace attack will depend on how folk are. Broad's been superb so I'm sure will play both unless something happens to him. Lunch: might have been a little hopeful with the 6 wicket winning margin but surely Eng will win. Root looked out of sorst but Brook has played wlel despite a few loose ones. All change in the 30 minutes after lunch, but why on earth are we persisting with trying to hit the leather off the ball? Woakes comes in and first instinct is a booming drive to one way outside the stumps. Support Brook and let him dictate how we chase thes. Entertaining is fine, but play the situation! Indeed! That's preety much been the discussion hasn't it - engage brain as well as talent! ....and breath. A good win but could have been managed less stresfully. What is it about CUFC and Eng Cricket that nothing ever seems to go entirely smoothly! Edit - apologies dan - didn't see your post! Quite right!

Phew. What a result.
Imagine it's time to flip Bairstow off for a bit though.

Another exciting test about to start today. Hopefully we can take our chances and come out on top to set up a decider at the Oval next week!

Honours even (slightly in the Aussie's favour) at lunch.

Lovely wicket there.
Still nervous about the draw, the weather has been grim as flip the last week up here in Greater Manchester and looks like it won't change too much over the next few days.

Yeah the match itself looks finely poised at the moment, but currently it looks like Friday will be interrupted, Saturday seems like a nailed on all day washout and Sunday only marginally better. Will be a real shame if it’s solely the weather that prevents the series going to the final test.

Finally, a Crawley we can get on board with.

flip the English weather. Can't think of many occasions it has saved us, quite a few the other way round, but this is the biggest of saves. I am convinced if we had won this match we would have completed the job at the Oval next week.

Aye, likewise, a proper head of steam built up.
The whole light issue last night just seemed a bit farcical as well, but when you play in Manchester, you know what's likely to be coming.
Guess the whole "the ashes are for the south" of next time looks vaguely justifiable now.

2005 and 2013 the weather came to help us did it? I actually can't precisely remember.

You'd hope that this would will give the ICC a kick up the backside to change some rules around. Of course as an England fan it's easy to feel hard done by, but the buzz there would've been around that final test around the world after a great series will be severely lacking now.
I'm not sure what the answer is whether it's start earlier, force more overs to be bowled, have a reserve day etc. but to have a series that's been as good as this has been to be decided in that fashion does disappoint

Reserve day is the easiest option, the only thing stopping it is greed - the Ashes makes millions.
