Yeah, broadly agree with most of that. I guess when we do badly we tend to look deeper for how/why that's the case, and when we do well the manager tends to get credit. I suspect there's a bit of people not understanding the dof role or thinking it's unnecessary, too. Andrew I woud welcome Dietmar Hopp as the new DoF - F stands for finances right?

No one ever seems to remember much of him but I had a belief that but for a serious injury in the early part of the 07-08 season box to box midfielder Darren Quinton would’ve gone on to be an integral part of the side that got to the 2 play off finals in 08 & 09

I always thought he was a decent player too, actually. Quite how good he could have been it's hard to say, but he definitely had the potential to be a handy Conference player.

Remember Quinton twatting one in off the bar in the last minute, great goal. Suspected he'd have become the 'technically good scapegoat' among the fanbase in the end, but alas.
File Adam Davi(e?)s in that category too. Seemed to be turning into quite a player until that horrific incident and he never returned.

He did return actually, then did his ACL early the next season and that was that.
