What’s the opinion you’ve never been able to budge from, even when all the evidence (and even your own rational brain) is telling you otherwise?
I think the deepest I’ve ever dug myself in was my insistence Mark Bonner would keep us up. And he did. So I can’t really relate to this topic, but I’m interested in what you lot have to say…

Only remembered it recently due to the other discussions, but as a teenager I was convinced that Brennan should have been playing in goal instead of Marshall. Probably my first experience of someone getting better the less they played.

That a local area power cut affected Stevenage’s stadium causing the postponement. Thankfully that fallacy was discredited inside 24 hours and so I’m no longer troubled by it.

Not that it was wrong but i'm never letting go the fact that Stephen Reed single handedly (pun intended) stopped us from going up

That despite keeping us up (which Roy Mac may have done), we should never had brought Beck back

That we should have loaned Liam Bennett to Walsall as he wasn’t in our first team plans. Don’t think it’s been mentioned before!

Dave Doggett & to an extent Jez George did as much as than good for the club.
Richard Money & Co achieved the success they did despite DDs leadership rather than being helped by it.

Someone’s got to hold their hands up for still believing Burton’s goalkeeper kept us up…

The main cause of our problems last season was dressing room unrest due to key players feeling let down by Bonner deciding he wanted to go to Rotherham after giving them lots of chat about loyalty

Liam Bennett is a right winger, not a right back…

Not going absolutely rubbish or bust against Altrincham, leaving Crow and Philips on the bench.

Losing our home game against FGR a few weeks prior, meaning we could only win the league on GD, rather than points, being far more significant in our failure to get promoted in ‘09 than the team we picked against Alty or whatever subs we made after going down to 10 men against Torquay.

A recent one is Jack Lankester’s ‘goal’ at Milton Keynes last season, had it stood, would have seen us comfortably win that game and been away from the horrors of the dreaded last day…
