Doesn’t every coach do that? I was genuinely asking, I don’t know much about him. Like many, he pushes things too far. Was here for a brief period as a coach with Jimmy Quinn until he left . Came here when Weymouth went pop. Then followed Quinn to Bournemouth where he then linked with Howe.

Potter seems more sensible but I'm not sure how that would go down at large. Southgate wasn’t universally welcomed when appointed it must be said, including by me. But I think that all gets forgotten pretty quickly once tournaments start. It will have a different dynamic about it, because Russia 2018 felt like a bit of a free hit, there was zero expectation and suddenly we’re winning penalty shootouts and quarter finals. Whereas the new man, assuming there is one, will be expected to reach semis and finals from the off. But I think people will look past personality if results are good. True, I think it leans more towards the whole "England DNA" & "St George's Park" overarching utopia angle. Carsley and Potter are just straight up dripping in that, as obviously is (Sir) Gareth, to go anywhere else would need to be big ticket to summon the boldness. I'm mellow, it's just lovely to have a national team again after the 2007-2018 era. Cheers Gaz, whatever happens, there are very few England managers who've managed to leave the place much better than they found it.

Judging by the FA statement just released, it sounds as if there might be an interim appointment for 7th September.

I think they might go for the cheap, Mark Bonner type appointment in Lee Carsley

I think they might go for the cheap, Mark Bonner type appointment in Lee Carsley If we're going to be inspired by De La Fuente, It makes sense to go from the source.

I think it will be Carsley for the Nations League and, if he does well, he'll get the job full time. I hope so.

Hot take from Henry Winter: Howe assisted by Tisdale with Ashley Cole in the coaching team. Southgate with an advisory role.
Hmmm...
