We definitely need a new thread created on what is the definition of a 'successful' team. Like 'working people' surely it can't be that difficult....?

Winning a league cup isn’t more successful than finishing runners up, especially if you finish out the top four. Throw in his shocking recruitment, he’s left Man United in worse shape than when he arrived, so no chance he’s been more successful than Arteta. Finishing 2nd is great, if you eventually go one step further and win it. Nobody cares who finishes 2nd, people do however remember trophy wins even if it's "just" the league cup. Ask Spurs, Newcastle, Villa if they'd like to win the league cup and they'd snap your hands off for it. You're comparing Newcastle, Spurs and Villa when we're discussing Man United and Arsenal. Both have won all the domestic trophies, so if you asked any Arsenal or Man United fan if they would prefer champions league or the league cup all would choose champions league. ETH has taken Man United backwards, whereas Arteta joined Arsenal where they were a million miles away from where they are today. Yes, he's not won the league cup but to say he hasn't been as successful as ETH is very short sighted. A bit like let's say, giving Reyes a 5 in the Wigan game .

None of the premier league clubs are interested in the fa cup ,and the rest of the football league are certainly not interested in the league cup another reserve competition ,like our pizza tournament we enter .

There's a big difference between the FA Cup/League Cup and the b-team pizza tournament.

Yeah, though not as big a difference as there was 30-40 years ago. The league cup is pretty much a friendly to us now for example.
The FA Cup still matters but it gets chipped away at every damn year. I don't think anything they can do to the FA cup will ever ruin 3rd round day though.

Mark Robins of Coventry sacked! Unless something's happened behind the scenes that seems mad.

Thought they'd give him more time given his overwhelming success and status there during an absolutely abysmal off the pitch period for them.
I think I want it to backfire on them spectacularly.

Apparently chairman's been looking to do it since he came in, one of those who wants a bigger name. Can't see how it goes wrong
